I'm Calvin Leung, an early-career UX designer who first discovered product design through bootstrap teams building solutions for the creator economy (e.g., streamers, video game publishers, esports, etc.).
I've enjoyed working with teammates to deliver recommendations backed by qualitative insights, customer feedback, and user empathy.
I'm currently working as a Math Tutor in Oregon after finishing a Master of Science in Information Studies (HCI) at UT Austin. Prior, I worked briefly in public relation agencies supporting corporate tech and video game clients like Verizon, Amazon Web Services, Daybreak Games, and Pearl Abyss.
Moving to Austin temporarily after living in the West Coast and East Coast has been a fortunate opportunity to learn new skills while expand my worldview. Returning as a student has challenged how I think about solving problems and when to approach mentors for guidance.
My long-term career goal is to specialize in agile product development. Areas I'm working to improve include leveraging a11y, analytics, and mixed-method research to evaluate user experience.
I've found enjoyment participating in all phases of the design process— from research to implementation— and converting user insights into measurable consumer-centric results. It has allowed me to analyze issues holistically and provide recommendations to other members in the design process— mainly stakeholders, front-end developers, and other designers.
